The thermal insulation layer is one of the main layers of the floor structure, which reduces its overall thermal conductivity, i.e. performs the function of thermal insulation.
Basic materials for the thermal insulation layer:
- Foams are porous or cellular plastics whose density is artificially reduced due to a large number of small hollow spaces (pores or cells) connected to each other or having a closed structure and distributed throughout the volume of the material. Foams include: foamed polystyrene (expanded polystyrene), extruded polystyrene and molded foamed polyurethane;
- Artificial insulating fibrous materials are mineral wool in the form of plates of various thicknesses and densities made of inorganic natural or artificial fibers bonded with a cured binder. These include: stone wool, glass wool and slag wool;
- Insulating mineral piece materials are materials in the form of blocks of various densities obtained by processing mineral raw materials or processing natural materials. The products of processing of mineral raw materials include: foam concrete, aerated concrete, foam glass, light concrete based on perlite, vermiculite or expanded clay. Natural materials processing products include: blocks of tuff, light spar and other similar natural mineral raw materials.
