A general contractor who worked at a very well–known facility in Moscow, Lomonosov Moscow State University, turned to us for a floor installation service. On the minus ground floor, for the dining room of the Faculty of Physics and the passage to it, it was necessary to make a concrete floor with the following characteristics: resistant to moisture, abrasion, dust; smooth; durable.

The following technical solution was chosen and subsequently implemented – a 10 cm thick concrete floor with a reinforcing top layer and reinforced with polypropylene macrofibre.

FEATURES OF THE WORK

It was convenient for the customer that we completed our work on the weekend. It was not possible to start on Saturday – some kind of meeting was held at the university that day. Therefore, we got down to business on Sunday morning, completed the preparatory part before lunch and filled and grout in the second half, and on Monday we cut the shrinkage seams.

Although the area of the facility was just over 100 square meters, it was not so easy to carry out the work. Firstly, the dining room itself consisted of eight separate small rooms, which required a careful and masterful approach at the stages of pouring and grouting the concrete mixture.

Secondly, there was almost no ventilation on the floor of the facility, which created unpleasant circumstances for the workers. Grout machines running on gasoline released exhaust gases, which the guys had to partially breathe. This is how we solved this situation – we often went outside to breathe fresh air.

OUR RESULTS

As part of the overall work package, the general contractor received a good product from us in the form of a reliable concrete floor. We, in turn, are proud that we have become involved in the improvement of such a significant and important object for the culture of Russia and the whole world.
