DIFFICULTIES DURING WORK
At this facility – the VIP box of the CSKA Arena - the work was interesting, complex and multifaceted. A detailed review of all the nuances would be enough for a full-fledged article. Let's highlight a few difficulties.
Initially, the client was preparing the concrete base of the lodge for granite tiles, and it was necessary to cut off several centimeters of concrete with a milling machine to lower the level. So this idea was not implemented until the end, because the customer changed the solution from granite tiles to polymer coating. Accordingly, the base remained in an incomplete form – somewhere it was cut off, somewhere it was not. The differences were up to 33 millimeters. It turned out that the first stage of our work is to prepare the foundation and make it smooth. To do this, we selected a special high-quality mineral self-leveling screed (made of materials from the same Sika concern). The difficulty was that the self-leveling screed usually does not align the coatings, but simply makes them smoother, and here it was necessary to align. Therefore, it was quite difficult from the point of view of the technology itself. In addition, the VIP box is part of the existing stadium, where games were regularly held, so we had to enter the working mode of the arena.
Another obvious difficulty is the tight deadlines. In our contract, the work was prescribed by days, even by hours, i.e., specific hours were literally indicated – from what time to what what needs to be done. Under such conditions, there is no room for error. We managed it successfully.
The work was carried out on the fourth floor, the material was supplied from the lower floor. Special innovative machines were used, of which there are few in Russia. Such equipment was required to lay 9 tons of material in less than half a day. This is a huge amount – usually this amount fits in four days. We managed it in less than 12 hours.
OUR RESULTS
The project turned out to be quite expensive. The customer was very satisfied with the result of the work. The head of the design team that dealt with this object said that they did not expect such a result – the effect exceeded expectations. After the completion of all stages of work, other participants in the repair and construction activities of the CSKA arena began to offer our company further cooperation in other projects.
